How do you like to say “hello”?
I’m a very “hey y’all!” kinda girl

What’s the first thing people notice about you?
Definitely my smile. I am super friendly, so I always greet everyone with a happy face!

What were you doing five minutes before this interview?
Checking out a Medusa head peice

What are some things you never leave home without?
My phone and some snacks.

What does your last outgoing text message say?
“Kelley is here trying on her dress”

What part of your personality gets you into trouble the most? Why?
I am stubborn! I dont like to budge on anything once I have my mind set.

What makes you laugh?
Memes and cat videos. I’m very simple

Are you ticklish? Where?
Yes, especially on my feet!

Let’s say I gave you $10,000 dollars. Where do you go to spend it? What would you buy?
I would immediately invest in going to different conventions. You’d catch me at San Diego Comic-Con meeting celebs and buying from the vendors and artists!

Tell us a joke.
Yo mommas so fat Thanos had to snap twice!

What are some of your favorite movies?
All the original old school horror movies! Halloween, Friday The 13th, Evil Dead, Nightmare On Elm Street. Also a huge fan of the MCU, I love Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Doctor Strange, etc.

What first got you interested in cosplay?
I started going to conventions years ago, and the cosplayers were such a welcoming crew I decided to try it out myself.

What is the most challenging part of cosplaying?
Getting a cosplay done in time for a convention or event!

What’s your favorite cosplay that you have done already?
Roadhog. I was nervous about the outfit itself because some of it is very bulky, and the mask can make it hard to breath. But once I get it on I feel both sexy and badass, and that’s a really great feeling!

What makes you choose to cosplay a certain character?
Normally I cosplay my favorite characters from movies

What has cosplaying taught you about yourself?
That no matter how I’m feeling about myself, I can put on a cosplay and feel like a new woman. It always puts me in a better mood!

What music have you been listening to lately?
The “Styx” station on Pandora, and The Greatest Showman soundtrack

The musician you would most like to meet is…
Stevie Nicks

What was your first concert?
The Backstreet Boys

What was the last concert you attended?

Who are some of your favorite bands?
I’m a classic rock kinda girl! AC/DC, Def Leppard, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Aerosmith, Styx, Fleetwood Mac

What is your favorite line from a song?
“Dreams unwind, love’s a state of mind”
Fleetwood Mac – “Rhiannon”

What do you do to relax?
Movie nights at home in my pajamas!

Name some things in your life you’re most proud of.
I have managed to meet most of my childhood heroes, and that’s been been pretty incredible. Before cosplay, I didn’t have a lot of confidence. Cosplay has allowed me to meet others like myself and it’s really helped me come out of my shell. I’m proud of all of the things I have accomplished thanks to that!

What is the key to happiness?
Life is too short to stay in anything that you are unhappy with! Be good to others, and surround yourself with people who love and support you!

Where can we find you online?
Kayla Voorhees Cosplay on Facebook, @yippiekaikay on Instagram

How do you like to say “goodbye”?
I prefer “see you later!”
