Nikki Hearts loves rock n’ roll, awesome boobs and making out with beautiful inked babes. She’s an amazing adult performer and has recently jumped into directing. Her second movie as director, Nikki Hearts Turning Girls Out, will be out soon. You’ve most recently seen her in the Steel Panther videos “Gloryhole” and “Party Like Tomorrow Is The End Of The World.” I thought it was the perfect time to catch up with Nikki and talk about her career, her favorite music and working with Steel Panther. Our motto is “Sex, Girls & Rock N Roll” and nobody is rocking that shit quite like Nikki Hearts!
How are you Nikki? How are things going?
I’m doing great! Going through a big transitional period of my life, lots to be on edge about, but lots to look forward to!
Any one who is a friend of the Crue is a friend of mine!
Let’s start off by finding out what you were like when you were younger – were you shy, outgoing?
I was definitely a shy, weird kid. I’ve been into the same shit my whole life, and I grew up in a wealthy urban suburb, so I was a total outcast. I spent all of my time playing bass in my room, skateboarding and watching VH1 Classic. (laughs) Once I found out that other people like myself existed I started to come out of my shell, especially when I started getting into bands… Then doing porn really pulled every last bit of inhibition out of me and spiked my confidence.
Do you remember when you first became comfortable with your sexuality?
I had a rocky, drawn out “coming out period”. It all started when I met some lesbians my age, after switching over to an alternative high school. It started to dawn on me then that I had been denying my attraction to girls, so I started experimenting. But I don’t think I was nearly as comfortable and “proud” with my sexuality until a few months into doing porn. That really pulls a lot of the vulnerability and inhibition to the surface, which either breaks you or makes you stronger in your beliefs and feelings about yourself.
Do you remember the first time you saw porn or any adult material?
I used to watch that show “Real Sex” on HBO late at night with no volume so my parents wouldn’t hear. (laughs) I was kind of secretly a sex-obsessed kid. I remember seeing lots of soft-core Evan Stone. I think growing up with rock n roll idols I was exposed to sexual content really early on. I did my 4th grade book project on The Dirt for fucksakes! (laughs)
How do you remember your first year in porn?
I was 19, super insecure, living in Ohio, and a pretty terrible performer! Ha. I was basically doing porn as a hobby, traveling to LA once a month or so to shoot. It took moving to LA over a year later to gain confidence as a performer, and in general.
Did you have any misconceptions about the porn industry before you started?
I don’t know if I would say I had misconceptions, rather than I just has no idea how things worked. And I really didn’t get it until I’d been living in LA a while, got to know lots of people, and figured out the ins and outs of how the business works. To summarize – I’ve figured out that I can’t be surprised by anything I hear or see.
Being an awesomely beautiful tattooed porn babe, your scenes are usually targeted to the alt-porn audience. Does knowing who your audience may be motivate you when performing or are you more concerned with people just enjoying your work?
I don’t ever perform based on the audience I assume will be watching, really. I focus on the scenario, the chemistry – or sometimes lack thereof – with the other performer, and what the director is looking for. That usually creates the best scene.
What attracts you to your job? Money, sex, glamor – all the above?
The money is cool, but not super steady or dependable, so it’s not that. I don’t really care about the attention. I think I just like banging hot girls and having a different experience every time I go to work. It rarely feels like a real job. I love the people I meet, I definitely have a family within the business.
Have you ever second-guessed your decision to be a porn star?
How far do you want to take your career? What else would you like to do?
I don’t expect to ever be a super mainstream well known girl in the industry, my look isn’t gonna make that happen. I just want to continue being known for being myself, which is a real honest performer who loves the job and the people I work with. I’ll continue performing and directing until I have my own studio or directing contract. Other than porn I just want to make rock n roll, and surf.
Can you share the story behind the sleeve on your left arm?
I’ve wanted a Mötley inspired Sunset Strip sleeve since I was like 10 years old, and I started the outline for exactly that the week I turned 18. It still has work to be done on it, but I really hate getting tattooed.
Who are some of your favorite bands?
Mötley Crüe will always be #1. Besides that, I’m all over the place, but to name a few, I love Die Mannequin, Kill Cheerleader, The Second Sons, Motörhead, Blitz… Those are all key.
Tell me your favorite song from each band:
Ratt – That’s tough- probably “Back For More” even though that’s a cheap shot.
Motley Crue – “Stick To Your Guns”
KISS – “Beth.” …just kidding! Not sure.
Motorhead – “Killed By Death”
Steel Panther – “Gloryhole” lately.
Do you remember the first CD you bought with your own cash?
Enema of the State – Blink 182. LAME! First CD I owned was Dr Feelgood.
What was your first concert? Who have you seen most recently?
My parents are musicians and took me to concerts really early so I honestly don’t remember. I know we went to go see Poison every summer. (laughs) Gross. I see all kinds of Hollywood bands. I see Steel Panther whenever they are home. I saw Motley Crue when they did Kimmel Live recently. That was super cool.
We’ve seen you cameo in a couple of Steel Panther videos. How did you get hooked up with them?
They originally invited Burning Angel girls for the “End Of The World” video, and Joanna Angel and I went. Before the shoot I started talking to Stixx on Twitter and we’ve just kind of remained buds. They know I’m always down to party with them!
Everyone gets drenched with jizz in the “Gloryhole” video. What was that stuff? It looked like a fun time on set that day!
It was some sort of movie prop mixture they were making by the bucket. It was super cold! Luckily it didn’t taste like anything. It was super fun. They called me up last minute and I left NAMM to come do the shoot.
What are some things you’ve got coming up we should know about?
My second directorial for Filly Films is coming out soon! It’s called ‘Nikki Hearts Turning Girls Out.’ It’s shot mockumentary/reality show style – super fun! Also, I’ve recently formed a new band for the first time in years. I’ll be focusing a lot on that. I am super excited.
How can your fans find you and stay in touch on the net?
What would you like to say to wrap things up?
Thanks for the interview! Xxx
